Tasmania’s Bruny Island is famous for its oysters, and on the Tasmanian Walking Company’s 3-day island walk you’ll get to shuck oysters straight from the crystal-clear waters.
The Bruny Island Long Weekend begins with a journey by private boat from Hobart to the island, where over the course of the next few days you’ll be treated to coastal walks, exquisite meals, and a private, off-the-grid forest camp designed with luxury in mind.
That includes canvas tents with king-sized beds and crisp linen, and an outdoor hot shower with spectacular views. Ninety percent of the food served comes from the island and the surrounding waters.
The journey involves 12 km of walking on the first day, 14 km on the second, and 4 km on the third, all designated as easy and each day returning to the same beautifully equipped campsite.

You’ll spend your days walking in wild, powerful, coastal places, enjoying spectacular views and abundant wildlife, birdwatching and appreciating ancient Gondwanan rainforest.
What makes the walk special is the access it provides to some of Bruny’s lesser-known gems. That includes the oyster farm visit when you can celebrate the first day of walking by wading out into the waters of Great Bay and shucking oysters as the pristine waters swirl around your ankles.
